Anterior Segment

The anterior segment of the eye is a part of the visual system that includes several anatomical structures. One of the most important is the CORNEA—the transparent outer layer responsible for refracting light rays.Keratoplasty is a surgical procedure where a damaged or pathologically altered section of the cornea is replaced with donor tissue or an artificial implant. The goal is to restore corneal transparency, improve vision, and, in some cases, correct a significant cosmetic defect.Keratoplasty is performed for conditions where the patient's own corneal tissue loses its transparency or normal shape and can no longer function to conduct and refract light.
